Dr Rob: The Importance of Self-Awareness
Today, I write to ask for your help on a project I am working on this summer. In preparation for my two fall classes at the University of Michigan (one for seniors at the Ross School of Business, and one for graduate students at the Center for Entrepreneurship in the School of Engineering). I am writing an e-book, which will serve as a workbook for my students (and for my coaching clients). The tentative title is: Self-awareness: Step One on the Path to Success
The book will help guide the students through a process to become more self-aware. I have found over the years that self awareness is the key to many important decisions people will make over their lifetimes. Most importantly; they will choose a career path, they will choose a significant other, they will decide where to live, how much money to make, whether to have a family, how to take care of themselves, and what interests and concerns to pursue.
I plan to include in the book, quotes and brief stories about how self-awareness has improved the lives of people I have worked with and known.
I am asking you, my readers, to provide brief quotes about how developing better self awareness has improved your lives.
Here are the questions I would like you to address:
- How has gaining more self-awareness helped you to achieve success in your life?
- What activities have been most important in helping you to become more self-aware?
Thank you in advance for your participation. I would appreciate all your thoughts and comments.
