I’m your host, Rob Pasick (Dr. Rob), a psychologist, author, and executive coach based in Ann Arbor. Today I want to tell you about my friend and colleague, Dr. Thomas Zurbuchen. I had the good fortune to meet Thomas when he was a professor at the University of Michigan. When I had the privilege of providing coaching for Thomas, he was considering several options: leaving the University; leading a project in his area of expertise, astrophysics; becoming a thought leader …
I began LeadersConnect in 1998 with just about 10 people gathered around a table at Zingerman’s Deli to hear Bob Quinn discuss his brand-new book, Deep Change. While I didn’t have a business plan at the time, somehow the program has continued—thrived, even—for over 25 years. Recently, I began reflecting on all the incredible speakers who have presented at LeadersConnect over the years. As best as I can recall (and find online), here’s a list of many of those individuals. In times of trouble, writing down my thoughts always helps. Likewise, writing down my goals makes it more likely for me to achieve them. We can plan all we want, but things can change drastically in a moment, often in ways outside our control. Living in a democracy is not a given. Starting at age 10, I was a garden seed salesman in my neighborhood, saving up points for an air rifle A newspaper boy who delivered papers …
Many of my clients struggle with quieting their minds, whether they’re trying to meditate, take a nap, or fall asleep at night. I have found that through meditation, one learns to focus attention, control negative thoughts, and achieve peacefulness. Often, my clients are overwhelmed with how difficult they believe meditation can be. As a way to get started, I offer them a simple method that I learned years ago from the book How to Meditate by Eknath Easwaran. By …
ls Your Thinking Making You Miserable? When l first moved to New York City in 1968, after graduating from the University of Michigan, l was alone. Having been a psychology major, I knew psychotherapy could help, but l could not afford it. In college, l had admired the work …
