Vic Strecher, who will be the speaker at Leaders Connect on Friday May 2nd, writes the following on his website about “changing your life on purpose”:
“Ever felt like your life had lost some of its meaning? It’s a feeling that can build up over time or show up like a tsunami seemingly out of the blue. Either way, you can be left empty and adrift.
This happened to Vic Strecher when his younger daughter, Julia, died suddenly at age nineteen. On Purpose is his response to losing his daughter…and, for a while, his way. Part survey of current, purpose-related scientific research; part philosophical walking tour; part deep dive memoir, On Purpose leads each reader on their own remarkable journey of self-discovery and renewal.
On Purpose shows that self-directed, positive change is possible and that pursuing a self-transcending life purpose is one of the keys.”
Here are some tips from Dr. Strecher on how to change your life on purpose, from his book “On Purpose: Lessons In Life and Health From the Frog, the Dung Beetle, and Julia”:
- Select 3-5 words or phrases that describe the core values that are most important to you
- Think about what you would hope people would say at your memorial service.
- Based on your core values and the way you would like to be remembered, formulate your own life purpose.
- Monitor how well your purpose is aligned with the way you live your life each day.
For more information, you can visit Vic’s website HERE. He even has an app that helps monitor and study your own Life-Purpose Alignment!
The invitation for the May 2nd CEO/Leaders Connect will be sent out this week. If you do not receive one and would like to attend, please email me.
