Today l present a process that can help you achieve your dream for 2023.
Step One: Review what you achieved and what you failed to achieve in 2022.
Step Two: Create a vision for what you hope a successful life will look like in 2023.
Step Three: Set goals, designed to enable you to achieve your desired results.
Step Four: Find ways to train your mind to focus on your goals.
How to Review:
My friend, Michael Cole, suggests going through your calendar from 2022 and recording key events, both positive and negative. Then look for patterns that enable you to learn what mattered in 2022.
Another way to review is to have a conversation with significant other people in your life about the year past. Sit with your partner, and think about the year from three perspectives: personal, work, and the world at large. What did you achieve in each category? What did you hope to achieve but did not?
How to Create a Vision:
Imagine that you are at the end of 2023. Ask yourself,
- What you would hope your life will look like?
- What would you have achieved personally for yourself and with your family?
- How have you improved your life in mind, body, and spirit?
- What would you have achieved at work?
Setting Goals:
I suggest following a method I have developed over several years:
- Specifically, what is your goal?
- By when will you expect to achieve the goal?
- For example, why is the school important to you?
- How does this fit into your vision for the year?
- What is your plan for how to achieve the goal?
- Who will support you in achieving your goal?
- Training your mind. (this last step may be the most important)
- Print your vision and post it somewhere where you will see it regularly when you meditate or pray.
