A Brief History
Since I started Leaders Connect in 1998, I have been focused on addressing the most pressing leadership challenges of the day. Many sessions were in response to crises.
-
In 2001 we were able to focus on the World Trade Center attack by bringing to Ann Arbor executives from New York City who had to deal directly with the crisis.
-
In 2007 we were able to bring in experts to help us understand the financial crisis and what it meant for Southeast Michigan.
-
With the Covid crisis in 2019, we switched to a weekly format via Zoom to enable community leaders to stay informed about how the crisis was affecting various aspects of our community. We were able to draw on valuable local expertise to understand what was happening, and how to manage the crisis.
Upcoming Events
Over the next three months, we will continue this tradition by focusing on three current challenges facing our society and our community.
Later this week we will feature three area leaders who will discuss the post-Covid affordable housing and office space challenges. Register for the event here.
In April, Mike van Lent and his colleagues at SoarTech will discuss their long-term research and development of artificial intelligence. They will help us understand the implications of the rapid deployment of AI, and what we can do to prepare for the substantial adaptations we will be making.
In May, we will be addressing the rapid changes in the delivery of services in the healthcare sector. Two Ann Arbor-based companies, Genomenon, and EQOV Therapeutics will describe their research and development activities which will create new opportunities to improve our healthcare delivery system.

Do we go back to the office as we knew it?
-
Do we continue to work from home?

How to create affordable housing in our cities?
In the March Leaders Connect Breakfast, three experts will present their perspectives on these crucial questions.
-
David Whitinger will discuss how shared office space is transforming the workplace.
-
Bill Milliken will give us his perspective on the future of office real estate in Ann Arbor.
-
Peter Allen will present his inspired concept of how we can create affordable housing and beautiful public spaces in Ann Arbor.
