On February 23, I will be moderating a crucial panel discussion at LeadersConnect on the relationship between mind, body, spirit, and a healthy heart. Our featured speakers, Dr. Stefanie Simmons, Eric Fretz, and Kemper Sosa will share their knowledge about how to maintain harmony among these aspects to promote well-being.
There are many ways we can learn to create harmony and balance. One way is to focus on the blessings we have, rather than craving after the things we believe are missing in our lives.
In the next few weeks, I will focus on ways to stay strong in mind, body, spirit, and heart. I created a simple exercise that I think will be an extremely helpful way for us to move from the pessimistic, fear-based narrative that is so prevalent in our society, to a more optimistic outlook on our place in the world.
The first exercise I recommend is: Counting Our Blessings – Open one of your note-taking apps or, write on a piece of paper or in a journal a list of your personal blessings.
As an example, I present some of my personal blessings. These are not all of them but what I was able to write in 10 minutes.
I love the privilege of living in Ann Arbor, a city that shines in all its glory: attending football games to watch the national champions; attending outstanding performances at UMS and the Michigan Theatre; enjoying Ann Arbor’s status as has been rated the best small town to live in America.
I take pleasure in being surrounded by trees upon trees.
I enjoy having four wonderful children, two of whom live in Ann Arbor.
The joy of spending time with those children every week.
I appreciate having access to the Great Lakes.
I am stimulated by the vibrancy and energy within the entrepreneurship sector.
I learn from inspirational women leaders.
I am proud of having created LeadersConnect which is celebrating its 25 years.
